Last night we had the treat of hearing Penn Design alum Richard Wurman speak. An architect and graphic designer, he is also the creator of Ted Talks. Upon coming up with the idea, he described it as “being sick and tired of hearing the same white men in suits talk, but nothing interesting happens.” He said he came up with the idea for TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) out of a selfish desire to hear interesting people share their stories. Richard said that the most important thing to remember is to try to do good work; if you do that it will affect the audience. If you try to affect the audience it will change the work.
